COMMUNITY VISITORS SCHEME
The Community Visitors Scheme is a national program funded by the Australian Government. The scheme aims to enrich the quality of life of residents of aged care facilities who are socially isolated or lonely and would benefit from a friendly visitor. The scheme helps to establish and strengthen links between residents of aged care facilities and their community. A community visitor is a volunteer who is matched with a resident of an aged care facility to visit them regularly and offer friendship and companionship.
COMMUNITY VISITORS EXPANSION SCHEME
Community Visitors Expansion Scheme has the same mission as Community Visitors as it brings companionship and friendship to those who are frail aged. This scheme is to bring friendship and companionship to those who are still independent enough to be living in their own homes and are in receipt of a home care package.
This scheme also allows volunteers to coordinate group activities in aged care facilities for residents to participate in groups such as craft, singalongs, card games, workshops, cooking groups, poetry and reading. Our volunteers encourage group activities that provide mental stimulation for residents.
